about

Hey, you all. This is S. The second track on the album, NAVIGATE. It is a simple musical line that became an intricate way for me to conceptually come to terms with how our light and enlightenment comes from our ability to embrace our low, cold, dark moments. We all have moments or periods of time when we go South. Where we are down and out, introspective, and trying to both accept and embrace our frail shadows so that we can befriend and overcome them, and discern our next steps in respect to light and love versus fear and darkness. We can choose awe or war. When we go South, as vulnerable as it may be, it is our opportunity to privately or with those close, acknowledge our fears, insecurities, joys, desires and finally, recognize and surrender to the fatigue we have in trying to manage all of these things simultaneously.

The significant reality is that by having the strength to remain in this space, a lot of our fears are confronted, warmed by the light, and we can move beyond them. And as a result, our dreams and desires can be met. Of course that is the hope. Sometimes it all requires much iteration. Sometimes, and I struggle with this, we judge how long it takes or feel that it will never come to pass. The point I believe is to carry on. A path is formed each time we try. A path providing infinite shades of grace. A depth of grace that teaches us so much more than we can conceive in our own human sense of longing and understanding. Sometimes our best-laid plans give way for something better. Much Love. XOVT

lyrics

S

Went South for days
All for finding out
Whether to walk away
Fall out of awe or
See it through
See right through

Went South one day
What has taken shape
Untethered mind escapes
Fall out of war
Or see it through
See right through ooh ooh

Warm cold bitten mind
Warm all tethered words
Warm these best laid plans
Warm then take them away

Warm loom’s frail threads
Warm indolent face
Warm these tired hands
Warm infinite shades of grace
Mmmmm

South cold bitten mind erased
South all tethered words escape
South all best laid plans give way
South please take it all away
South loom’s tattered threads gain strength
South awaken each worn face
South revive each tired hand
South in infinite shades of grace
Oh oh oh - oh oh oh - Ah - Oh…..

Went South for days
Untethered mind escapes
Went South one day
South adorned new ways
Went South for days
South in infinite shades of grace
